EUROREG Seminar, Warsaw
On Thursday January 24th, Agnieszka Labus PhD. Eng. Arch. talked about „Urban spaces with a 60+ perspective” as a part of the EUROREG seminar in Warsaw.
Poland is at the forefront of the fastest-growing European countries. This challenge applies to all of us, regardless of age, so today it is worth considering whether cities, public spaces, buildings, interiors are friendly to an aging society.
The lecture concerned looking at a new approach to urban space design in the context of an aging population. On the basis of the examples, significant elements were defined in various spatial scales in the context of design with the perspective of 60+. This approach is an important element of the LAB60+ Foundation, which is the first organization in Poland dealing with an innovative approach to design in the face of the needs of an aging society.
Some selected activities and projects of the LAB 60+ Foundation were presented during the lecture. LAB60+ experts combine different areas of knowledge, for instance science, education and the silver economy, supporting government, self-government and private investors. LAB 60+ closely cooperates with the Faculty of Architecture at the Silesian University of Technology and can be an example of implementation scientific research into practice and real influence on changes in the spaces of cities, buildings and interiors.
