Katarzyna Ujma-Wąsowicz

Architect, researcher, academic teacher – professor at the Faculty of Architecture, Silesian University of Technology.
Katarzyna Ujma-Wąsowicz deals with issues related to ergonomics and universal design in urban and architectural interiors, with particular emphasis on accessibility restrictions for the blind and visually impaired. She has international and national experience. She is the author of two books: “Ergonomics in architecture” and “Shaping sports and recreational spaces in the city. Evolution of the problem” and author or co-author of about 60 other publications. She holds a building license in the architectural specialization. She works for the Polish Ergonomics Society, Society of Polish Town Planners (since 2015 she is president of the Silesian branch of TUP). She is, among others, a member of the Provincial Commission for Urban Planning and Architecture at the Office of the Silesian Voivodeship; the Polish Council of Architecture operating at the Association of Polish Architects and a member of the Chapter of the nationwide competition “Accessibility Leader” under the patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland. In January 2021 she was appointed to the Accessibility Council at the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy. She also initiated, founded and coordinates the activities of the “Education for Accessibility – EdD” Group, whose members are associations and foundations dealing with issues of architectural, communication and digital accessibility, bringing together, among others, people with various disabilities.
