Workshops for ASP Katowice
Last week was very intensive for us due to the 4-day training (lectures and workshops) that we had the opportunity to conduct for the Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice on accessibility in public spaces - standards and practice.
During the training, we tried to use a variety of methods to transfer knowledge and our experience in an accessible way, including: design thinking, mind mapping and future thinking.
There was a discussion about permanent, temporary and future disability, which participants could experience thanks to "crossfit accessibility".
It was also about how to define accessibility and whether spatial barriers are everything in its understanding?
And also about universal design today and tomorrow - how accessibility is understood in the design of future cities and is there an understanding of the concept of universal design more broadly as universal planning? What various beneficiaries can do in this area for better accessibility in cities in pursuit of their universality, being more just and equalizing development opportunities for their inhabitants and residents?
The culmination of the training was a competition for good and bad design practices in urban spaces and buildings, which showed the participants how difficult the role of accessibility auditors is!
Thank you ASP Katowice for the trust and the opportunity to meet with you creatively!
